I never worked on it, but I can elaborate! And I shall. So nyah.
It was actually completely built. Like, done. Finished. But it was so boring that even after some tweaking and revamping to try and fix it, it was eventually determined that Neoschools couldn’t be saved - and that players shouldn’t be subjected to something that wasn’t fun (truth!) - so the programmer was told to move on to other stuff rather than spend more time on it or put it live as is and it was abandoned.
It remember it freaked me out at the time! When I’d joined the company, Neoschools had already been announced and had been in development for a few months. It continued for a few months after that and when they decided it was going to have to be revamped, I was working on only my second user-facing project ever - the new Neoboards. I’d put a ton of work into it. I’d even built out the whole avatar system already, before actually pitching that idea… because I’m dumb. I was so afraid I would suffer the same fate - everyone would hate it and I’d have to start over.
But that didn’t happen, yay! And although I didn’t crash the site completely when the Neoboards launched, I did cripple it severely and was told that, finally, I was a true Neopets programmer.

But Comastar and Viola are huge fans and keep bugging me to watch it, so I will probably have to at some point just so they don’t friend-dump me.
